Journal #2

Journal #2-
Chapters 4-7
Perspective: Jem

Dear Journal,
Today as I was walking back from schhol, to my house I passed the Radleys house and in a tree I saw a hole. I looked in there and found some chewing gum. I took but I wasn't sure if I should eat it or not. I decided to eat it till my brother Jem, made me spit it out. He told me I shouldn't be putting things in my mouth that were not mine. After I told Jem were I had found the gum we looked in there and found two indianheads. Jem explained they were like peenies but even better ,because they gave you good luck. Such as good healthy life and good luck in tests. So finally Jem decided to keep them untill someone claimed that it was theres. Summer was coming closer and I was pretty excited to see Dill once again. He seemed like he grew just not taller. He told us he saw his dad. This summer I didnt really enjoy Dill's prescence here in Maycomb. My brother and Jem, excluded me when they were playing. So I decided to talk to the only othe lady which was Mrs. Maudie Atkinson. She lived two doors away from our house and she was a widow. We enjoyed each others company. She told me lots of things I had no idea of. For example she told me that she talked to Mr. Radley when he was younger. I also talked to her about my uncle anting to get her goat by marrying each other for the past 40 years. I also discovered that Mrs. Maudie made the best cakes in town. She would share that cake with me, Jem, and Dill. This summer we also got in trouble for messing with the Radleys. It was my brother's idea to pass a note to them by a window, and we got caught by Atticus. He warned us not to ever get close to there house, Atticus found out cause I had told him that they were planning to do it. That wasn't all we also got in trouble for playing a mimicing game of the Radleys. I was Mrs. Radley, while Jem was Boo Radley and Dill was Mr. Radley. Lastly before Dill left they planned to peak in the Radleys house. I had to go along with it, and we got in a very shocking situation, where Nathan Radley came out with a shot gun to scare us away. He thought it was simply a nigger, or atleast that's what we think. We had lots of... intresting moments this summer. After Dill left and we went back to school we found that the hole in the tree would have something in there for us everyday. We decided that if we found something it was for us to keep. Untill one day when we were about to put a thank you card in there for who ever left the gifts.. we discovered Nthan Radley had covered up the hole with cement.. Acording to him the tree was dying but we werent sure. And that's how I spent my summer here in Maycomb.

  1. I really liked how you explained all that the character saw and felt during these chapters.
Also I liked your descriptions because it helps a lot to visualize the settings.
One suggestion is to fix your spelling errors because there are a lot. You should read it over to yourself and find them.
Also I think that you wrote the wrong perspective so it got me confused. You wrote Jem but you were sounding like scout
